The Madhya Pradesh Police has directed all its training centres to hold Bhagavad Gita recital sessions for constables under training. The order, issued by Additional Director General of Police (Training) Raja Babu Singh, applies to all eight training schools in the state where around 4,000 recruits are currently undergoing nine months of training.
The ADG said regular reading of the Gita would help trainees lead a righteous and disciplined life. “Bhagavad Gita is our eternal scripture. Its regular reading will definitely guide our trainees to lead a righteous life, and their life will get better,” Singh said in a message to the institutions. The sessions are to be held before the daily meditation routine, particularly during the ongoing holy month of Lord Krishna, Agahan Krishna.
In July, Singh had directed the recital of Ramcharitmanas at the same training institutions during the inauguration of the current batch, stating that the scripture inspires discipline through the life of Lord Rama. The latest directive builds upon that initiative, with an emphasis on moral and ethical grounding for police personnel.
This is not the first time the officer has initiated such a move. During his tenure as Gwalior range police chief in 2019, Singh distributed Bhagavad Gita copies to local jail inmates, advocating its teachings as a moral compass for life and conduct.
